DNA Testing for children of El Derado
Released on: April, 30, 2008 Press Release Author: Lieca Villarreal Industry: DNA Testing
Press Release Summary: Four hundred thirty-seven children were taken from the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints polygamy compound earlier this month. Upon further investigation police staff found it impossible to identify the true biologcial parents of many of the children. DNA testing was court ordered for all 437 children.
Press Release Body: On April 4, 2008 the Yearning for Zion Compound or YFZ was raided by authorities after a phone call from a 16 year old girl who claimed to she was beaten and forced into a relationship with another man. Four hundred thirty-seven children were recovered from the compound some were as young as infants.
In light of recent problems identifying the parents of the children, Judge Barbara Walther has court ordered DNA testing for all the children at the request of staff officials. It has taken 4 to 5 days to get samples from all children and even longer for the testing itself. Once the test is finished the court will decide whether to release the children to their biological parents or place them in foster care.
In order to understand how DNA testing will determine who is related to whom its important to understand the basics of DNA testing itself. Each person has unique DNA (except for identical twins) and this can be used to determine man things, including paternity.
Everyone is born with 2 sets of chromosomes. One of the sets originates from the biological mother and the other set from the biological father. When DNA is compared to an alleged father, scientists examine each set of chromosomes to determine a probability of paternity. This probability can be either 0.00% or >99.9%. Based upon the percentage, the courts can the biological parents of each child.
This process is expected to take many months to complete and will hopefully clear up much of the confusion.
Bio-Synthesis (BSI) is an accredited Texas-based lab that also performs DNA testing.
“This is a very sad situation.” said Miguel Castro, CEO of Bio-Synthesis. “We are fortunate that technology has revolutionized this industry so we can determine relationships just by swabbing the inside of someone’s cheek.
Aside from paternity and family relationship testing for private and legal purpose, BSI also offers custom synthesis for researches across the globe. They manufacture custom peptide synthesis, polyclonal antibodies, bioconjugates, DNA Oligomer, HLA/DNA typing, organic synthesis and a diverse number of bimolecular products for the biomedical/life science community worldwide.
Bio-Synthesis helps to protect children
Released on: May 10, 2008, 2:37 am Press Release Author: Greg Guiteras Industry: Small Business
Press Release Summary: Bio-Synthesis offers SafeID or DNA profiles for young children. This DNA information can help identify missing children and many times where they have been. It can also help to identify what they look like now and what they may look like in the future.
Press Release Body: If you have heard of an Amber Alert, then you are probably aware that almost every day there is a new alert posted a chilling fact another child has gone missing. The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention has issued only an approximate estimate of how many children have gone missing each year.
The number is quickly rising. In the year 2005 only, an estimated 662,960 children were reported missing; 58 percent were girls, and 33 percent of the children were black. There were 16,897 cases where children were the victims of the most serious, long-term non-family abductions called “stereotypical kidnappings”.
Having your child’s unique 15 genetic loci DNA profile, can help authorities recover and identify your child quickly. A searchable DNA databank, also known as CODIS, is used by FBI and local police departments, as one of many tools to help locate missing persons. Many children have gone missing for years, and even though their pictures are posted everywhere, they can be hard to recognize.
The genetic material, that is DNA, stays constant. Each child inherits different genes, thereby, making him/her genetically unique. Bio-Synthesis offers a SafeID card that will display your child’s current picture with his/her unique 15 genetic loci DNA Profile.
Other physical characteristics such as height, weight, hair color, eye color, DOB, or any unique birth marks or physical characteristic particular to your child, can be found on the card as well. In case your child is abducted, this card can be given to law enforcement.

Protest turnouts down from last year
Released on: May 2, 2008 Press Release Author: Lieca Villarreal Industry: Immigration
Press Release Summary: Immigration Protestor participation in this year’s May Day has waned this year in light of President George Bush’s new amnesty laws. The numbers projected were no where near the actual turn out.
Press Release Body: This year’s May Day was significantly less impressive than previous years. With protestor turn outs lower than projected, it left their message less than boisterous. From New York City to Washington D.C. protestors numbers dwindled. Last year in Chicago projected numbers were 150,000 and this year that number has dropped dramatically to less than 5,000.
May Day, started in 2005, is a day in which people protest the treatment of illegal immigrants within the United States. This year is the first year the numbers have not met its 6 digit mark.
Some attribute the fewer numbers to Bush’s amnesty plan, which grants citizenship to many illegal immigrants within the United States. It stipulates a shorter wait time and smaller fees for illegal immigrants currently residing in America.
Each year, hundreds of thousands of people attempt to become U.S. citizens and wish to bring their loved ones with them. For some countries, this is a simple task with a minimal wait time and nominal fees. For many other countries, this task can take years and cost hundreds of dollars.
As it stands now, in 3rd world countries, documents are frequently falsified. Therefore DNA testing is required to be performed for any citizen of the U.S. petitioning for their relatives to acquire, Immigrant Visas, U.S. Citizenship, or even U.S. Passports.
This process is done through the U.S. Embassies in the respective countries. Each beneficiary, or foreigner wishing to come to America must register with the Embassy; go through an interviewing process, and then finally a DNA test to confirm relation with the petitioner, or citizen residing within the U.S. This can cost anywhere from $450.00 to upwards of $1,000.00. Once the DNA test is completed, the beneficiary must go through the entire process one more time before they are granted their visas.
“It’s very sad.” said Michelle Alberty, DNA Testing Lab Coordinator for Bio-Synthesis, Inc. “These nice people wait so long just to come to America, but I think it’s necessary.”

Bio-Synthesis help to make women beautiful
Released on: April 30, 2008 Press Release Author: Lieca Villarreal Industry: Beauty
Press Release Summary: By using biologically engineered peptides, Bio-Synthesis is helping women all over the world to look younger. These peptides combine together to work from all fronts to help fight signs of aging and aging that has already occurred. While these are less expensive and less invasive ways to get younger skin, they may soon be taking the place of Microdermabrasion and other costly procedures
Press Release Body: Imagine a world where youthfulness surrounds us, when young skin is no longer a fad but a way of life and it’s as easy to achieve as going to the grocery store. We may soon be heading in that direction. In this day and age, science is being incorporated into every part of our life, and beauty is no different. Thanks to a chain of amino-acids called peptides, looking young is possible for any woman of any age.
Peptides are defined as smaller chains of proteins made of Amino acids. These shortened forms of proteins aid our skin in its ability to function. Considering that twenty-five percent of our skin is comprised of proteins, is it any wonder that peptides are so useful?
There are three leading peptides in this beauty revolution, according to CellularSkin Rx, a website dedicated to the science behind skin, Argireline, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3. Each peptide has its own separate but highly effective function to help not only repair skin, but also keep its youthful glow.
Argireline helps to relax facial muscles, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It works almost like a topical botox.
The second primary peptide Palmitoyl Oligopeptides stimulates elastin, collagen, and connective tissues to help make the skin tighter and tauter. Palmitoyl Oligopeptides also enables moisturization of the skin (a main component for younger looking skin).
The last of the three primary peptides Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3, not only reverses some of the sun’s damage but also speeds up the healing process of our skin to allow us more youthful looking skin at a much quicker speed.
Many beauty companies are now beginning to combine these peptides to make “end all” beauty products that allow youthful looking skin from all fronts. Women can say goodbye to painful Microdermabrasion, and laser treatments. These new beauty weapons are quickly making headway in the industry.
As technology and research advance, peptide enriched beauty products will allow women to shed decades off their look in a safe and affordable manner.

DNA Testing for Immigration offered by Bio-Synthesis
Released on: March 3, 2008 Press Release Author: Lieca Villarreal Industry: DNA Testing
Press Release Summary: Thousands of people are immigrating to the United States everyday. As Immigration becomes more common place, so does DNA testing for immigration. Bio-Synthesis (BSI) has been a part of this process for the better part of a decade and has become a trusted name within the industry. One of only 46 AABB accredited laboratories in the world, BSI holds itself to a higher standard.
Press Release Body: As the number of people immigrating to the United States’ continues to climb and the immigration procedure becomes increasingly difficult, Bio-Synthesis (BSI) offers specialized assistance to those who need evidence of biological relationships. BSI provides quality DNA testing services at affordable prices. The dedicated team of immigration experts coordinates DNA testing for immigration clients in all 195 countries. BSI not only fulfills the requirements of the U.S. embassies abroad but also the requirements of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as well.
BSI has expertly guided many clients through the complexities of the immigration process. “Many people come to us in confusion,” said BSI DNA Testing Director Rita Chen. “We help them to understand the process and involve them in what’s going on. It really gives them a sense of security. We pride ourselves on our customer service.”
The US Embassies require DNA testing for immigration cases to be performed by an accredited laboratory. Bio-Synthesis has been accredited by the “Advancing Transfusion and Cellular Therapies Worldwide” (AABB) for over 8 years. BSI is one of the few laboratories on the AABB list that has not only established an international network and process, but also maintains close international relations within that network. These factors help smooth the way for immigration clients whose cases are depending on the results of a DNA test.
A DNA test must be requested either by the US Embassy in a foreign country, or by the USCIS. The petitioner, many times living within the US, has to initiate the case. After the case is started BSI can contact the embassy and coordinate samples collections accordingly. Many times it may be the embassy’s responsibility to contact the beneficiary or the person who resides in the foreign country.
Bio-Synthesis requests the letter from the Embassy at the beginning of the case setup. This allows for easier communication between the Embassy and the laboratory. The letter from the embassy is extremely important for the initiation of the case. It not only contains the case number assigned in the foreign country, but also can contain the specifics of the case. BSI routinely sends the embassy’s letter when communicating with the Consulate regarding paperwork and samples to ensure proper documentation of all aspects of each case.
“It really expedites the process when you send the paperwork with your collection kit,” said BSI’s DNA Coordinator Michelle Alberty.
Aside from immigration-related paternity and family relationship testing, BSI also offers Custom Synthesis for researches across the globe. They manufacture custom peptide synthesis, polyclonal antibodies, bioconjugates, DNA Oligomer, HLA/DNA typing, organic synthesis and a diverse number of bimolecular products for the biomedical/life science community worldwide.
